Internal Culture

Basic interactions:

  1. Starting a conversation with

    1.1.    one member
    1.1.1.    Simply say “Hi” and tell him/her your name.
    1.1.2.    When someone comes to you and says “Hi”, you great him/her warmly and tell him/her your name.

    1.2.    a group of members
    1.2.1.    To join discussion of a group of members, simply say “can I join you?/do you mind if I join you”, then  tell them  your name
    1.2.2.    When someone joins your group, quickly tell your names to him/her and briefly describe what you are discussing and follow your discussion as nothing happened.
    1.2.3.    Try not to create groups more than 5 members, as more people you have in a group, you and other members will have less chance to talk and express themselves.

  2. Conversation with

    2.1.    one member
    2.1.1.    Try to find a topic that interests you both
    2.1.2.    Allow both of you to be engage in the conversation
    2.1.3.    Ask questions about things the other person knows
    2.1.4.    Summarize what the other person says to check if you understood correctly and show them that you are listening
    2.1.5.    Avoid asking the standard and boring questions. E.g. where are you from? What is your job? Weather

    2.2.    a group of members
    2.2.1.    Choose a topic that is interesting to all the group
    2.2.2.    Make sure everybody is engaged in the conversation, if someone is quiet, ask them questions
    2.2.3.    Summarize a conclusion of your discussion
    2.2.4.    Make sure you are not the only person who talks, let other members to express themselves

  3. Ending  a conversation with

    3.1.    one member
    3.1.1.    If you started a conversation with someone, it doesn’t mean you have to stay with them till the end of the meeting
    3.1.2.    It is okay to end a conversation, simply say “It was nice to talk with you, looking forward to talk with you later”
    3.1.3.    End the conversation while it is still fun, never wait till other member becomes tired and/or bored.
    3.1.4.    Do not try to continue the conversation if the other member wants to end it, just start another conversation with another member.

    3.2.    a group of members
    3.2.1.    If you joined a group, it doesn’t mean you have to stay with them till the end of the meeting
    3.2.2.    If the topic your group is discussing isn’t interesting to you, you may leave the group conversation, without saying a word.
    3.2.3.    After one or two topics discussed by your group, everybody tries to create or join other groups.
