It's a 3 minute prepared presentation of a specific kind. Word of the Day section of the club meetings is aimed at increasing the members' active vocabulary.

If you're in charge of the Word of the Day, choose a word and, consulting an English-English dictionary, find out its meanings and usage. It should be an adjective, adverb, noun or verb, which can be easily used in everyday conversation, but is not hackneyed. Then, make a presentation of the word, which includes its definitions and examples of usage in a sentence or in set expressions.

Before making a presentation in the club, prepare some visual aids, which could help the audience to follow your explanation: hand out home-made cards with all the necessary information about the word (the word itself, its part of speech, definitions and examples of usage) to the listeners or write it on the whiteboard in big letters.

Explain the word to the audience, giving vivid examples and encourage your fellow-members to use the Word of the Day during the meeting as frequently as possible.

At the end of the meeting be ready to name the person who has used it the most. He is proclaimed the winner of the Word of the Day Contest that is held at every meeting.
