Stage 4. Support your speech

 

The main goal is to add ‘flesh’ to the speech ‘skeleton’ and make it ‘tasty’ for the audience.

 

Key areas to concentrate on:

 

1. Different forms of supporting materials (SM)
- visual aids (handouts, photos and pictures, slide presentations),

- audio aids

- Power point presentation

 

2. Argumentation & reasoning

- illustrations and underpinning

- contrapositions

- metaphors and allegories

- rhetorical frameworks

 

3. Working on your active vocabulary
- type of language you use

- ‘junk’ words
