AMC Public Speaking Club |
About Us
The AMC Public Speaking Club hosted by American Center in Moscow, is a place where people learn to communicate effectively in a public setting. Participants acquire an expertise in the art of oratory and debate, get a great boost of creativity and discover innate leadership within themselves.
We always consider the Club Core Ideology:
1. The club exists to help people improve their public speaking skills.
2. Provide an excellent supportive atmosphere.
3. Respect each other’s opinions, thoughts and point of view.
4. Provide equal opportunities for all members.
5. Encourage continuous self-improvement.
6. Take the club seriously but above all keep it fun.
Communication being the key principle of the club’s philosophy, we have created an atmosphere in which members are provided with a unique opportunity to establish contacts and form friendships with people of practically every profession.
AMC Public Speaking club is managed by a volunteer team devoted to maintaining a friendly and creative atmosphere.
The activities of the club are as diverse as its members. Besides its original educational system, the club provides many other activities ranging from “Debates” to various walking tours arranged by club members.
AMC Public Speaking Club is there to help you realize your potential and succeed in whatever path you choose in life. All in all, it is a place where your talents will flourish and your dreams will come true.
Like any other organization, AMC Speaking Club has its rules that are always to be respected.
History
AMC Public Speaking Club started on a day when a gentleman made up his mind to make something exciting and unusual, something that could get many people involved. So, that is how the idea of a club formed in his mind. Let me introduce this tall gentleman with a winning smile. This is Amir Godds, the founder of AMC Public Speaking Club. Amir, who runs a consulting company, always knew what problems both business executives and their employees are faced with in the workplace; they are constantly challenged with the problems of poor communication. So he understood that something should be done about it; something immediately and on a large scale.
AMC Public Speaking Club started as a modest group of people, curious as to what a public speaking club was all about. Of course, everyone was quite familiar with the term “public speaking” itself, but very few of them initially understood what was in it for them. So first, people were curious, and then they got more and more excited when the outline of the club activities gradually emerged. Many of them started realizing the importance of public speaking skills in their life – a life, which not only consists of work, but also various kinds of everyday communication in which they could successfully apply the skills developed from a public speaking club.
As for now, AMC Public Speaking Club is an established community, and taking into account the number of applications we get, we seem to be quite in demand.
AMC Public Speaking Club is a place where people get used to facing the audience, learn to speak in front of groups of all kinds and sizes, think on their feet and discover the hidden Ciceros in themselves, let alone the fact that they shed their fears along with their complexes.
The activities of the club are variegated, and the creative team, constantly challenged by the founder of the club, never fails to come up with something new. Practically every session is marked with at least one new feature and the older inventions are regularly updated. So all these creative impulses are encouraged and supported, and the general atmosphere is so contagious in which the spirit of innovation reigns, that new people immediately get involved. Thus, both the population of the club and the range of activities are increasing at a dangerous rate. We cannot help it either, so we are simply… expanding. Starting in March 2006, we held our meetings every week with an average number of attendees around forty people. On January 2007 in an attempt to improve the club’s quality, we temporary decreased club meetings to twice per month and introduced newly adopted rules. In February 2007, we launched our official public website. As of September 2009, we have already held 101 meetings.
